Becker County house fire leaves woman injuredWOLF LAKE, Minn. - A 64-year-old woman was severely injured in a house fire in eastern Becker County shortly after midnight last night, according to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman, who lives near Wolf Lake, had severe and extensive injuries from heat and smoke. She was taken by air ambulance to the Hennepin County Burn Center in Minneapolis. Her name and condition are being withheld until her son can be contacted.
An initial investigation revealed the fire was started with the woman fell asleep while smoking. She was awoken by the fire and was able to escape. Responders were unable to save her house.
A final investigation of the incident will be undertaken by a Minnesota State Fire Marshall and the Wolf Lake Fire Department.
