DFL attorney says party ready for possible recountMINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A member of Al Franken's 2008 recount legal team says lawyers for Minnesota Democrats are already preparing for the possibility of a recount in the unresolved governor's race.
Former Minnesota U.S. attorney David Lillehaug says it's too early to talk about Democrats' possible recount strategies before the votes are finalized but that the party will be ready for the possibility. With 99 percent of precincts reporting Wednesday morning, Democrat Mark Dayton leads Republican Tom Emmer by 9,257 votes out of more than 1.8 million cast. That's within the margin that would trigger an automatic statewide recount.
