Hoeven declared winner in ND Senate race

Republican John Hoeven was declared the winner in the North Dakota Senate race moments after the polls closed by CNN and other networks.

Hoeven, who was elected to the governor’s office in 2000, ran against Democrat Tracy Potter for a seat left open by the retirement of Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D.

In South Dakota, Republican John Thune, who was running unopposed, was declared the winner.
