Commission to discuss group housing changeA Fargo zoning change aimed at ensuring the public is notified when a sex offender or felon group home is planned goes before the City Commission on Monday.
The amendment would mean homes with four or more felons on parole or probation would require public notifications to neighbors and planning and city commission approval.
The proposal came in response to a plan in April by Fargo attorney Craig Richie to open a sex offender group home in north Fargo.
The planning and city commissions shot down Richie’s proposal, but the request brought to light the need to have public notification of such facilities, Commissioner Dave Piepkorn has said.
The Planning Commission approved the zoning change Oct. 5.
The City Commission meeting starts at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 207 4th St. N.
