No to Langseth’s ‘candy store’

Recently, I discovered a quote from Sen. Keith Langseth, DFL-Glyndon, Minn. He had won the quote of the day by opening up a hearing of the Capital Investment Committee by saying, “Welcome to the candy store.”

While he might have thought he was showing a sense of humor, I thought it was very telling of an underlying philosophy – one we simply cannot afford. We can’t afford the public servants who operate with a belief in handing out tax-dollar resources as though they were candy.

Minnesota is hurting financially. Our country is hurting financially. We are facing enormous budget deficits. We cannot tolerate overspending. Now, more than ever, we need to vote conservative people into office who are responsible with resources and know how to grow jobs.

I know people who fit this description. These people have a mind for business and a heart to serve. We need Jeff Backer for state Senate, Lee Byberg for Congress and Tom Emmer for governor. They have my vote!
