Bison football: Around the water cooler

Four things we’re talking about after North Dakota State’s 27-15 win over Indiana State on Saturday at the Fargodome:

Stopping the run

NDSU’s defense shut down an Indiana State running attack that was averaging 235 yards rushing per game. The Sycamores could muster only 27 yards on the ground Saturday.

Creating turnovers

The Bison defense not only created turnovers, but two of them that produced 14 points – Daniel Eaves interception return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery that led a D.J. McNorton touchdown run.

Getting healthy

Next week’s bye couldn’t have come at a better time for the Bison. It will allow them to heal up for a Nov. 6 showdown with Southern Illinois.

Cleaning it up

The Bison had several chances to deliver a knockout punch. But 14 penalties for 128 yards, a fumble and two missed field goals didn’t help.
