Backer made things happenI have been hearing murmuring from state Sen. Keith Langseth, DFL-Glyndon, Minn., about all that he has done for flood relief work here in the upper Minnesota River Valley. I do thank Langseth for the work he has done; however, I am not so sure he needs to be taking all of the credit.
I can tell you that here in Browns Valley, we had tried for many years to get funding from the state for this work. It wasn’t until Jeff Backer became mayor that it happened. I don’t mean to disparage past mayors. They all did a great job. But Backer got it done.
Langseth? He did his job simply by appropriating state money that should go to projects like this to begin with. Now he takes credit as if it was from his own bank account.
I want to thank Langseth for his many years in office, but I think it is time we have someone take that office who gets the job done quietly. That man is Jeff Backer.
