100-mph chase results in arrestMoorhead police say a Fargo man led authorities on a high-speed chase early Thursday that reached interstate speeds of over 100 mph and covered more than 15 miles before he was arrested.
According to Sgt. Robert Matheson:
At 12:52 a.m., Moorhead officers tried to stop a tan Cadillac car that was speeding and whose driver had been reported as a possible drunken driver at Center Avenue near Eighth Street.
The car fled and led officers on a high-speed pursuit that went west on U.S. 10 to Minnesota 336, south to Interstate 94 and west to 25th Street in Fargo, ending at Cobblestone Court and Gateway Circle South.
A Minnesota State Patrol trooper deployed stop-sticks to deflate both front tires of the suspect’s car. The suspect fled on foot and was later arrested without incident at an apartment at 1510 E. Gateway Circle in Fargo.
Arturo Amador Diaz, 31, was being held at the Cass County Jail pending extradition to Minnesota for a number of charges, including felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, Matheson stated in a news release.
No one was injured in the incident, Lt. Tory Jacobson said.
Fargo and Dilworth police and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office also assisted Moorhead police.
