Weekend Watch: Lana Suomala and Grady Carlson openings

Saturday

Fargo art fans can check out two emerging artists in back-to-back opening receptions this Saturday. Moorhead High School Spanish teacher Lana Suomala deals with immigration and migration in her show of sewn and stitched illustrations, “Humans on the Move,” at the Spirit Room, 111 Broadway, Fargo. A reception runs from 4 to 6 p.m., with an artist’s talk at 5 p.m. (701) 237-0230.

A block south and west, DK Custom Framing at Gallery 14, 14 Roberts St., Fargo, hosts the second solo show by painter Grady Carlson. “Vanishing America” features a mix of rural landscapes and Abe Lincoln images, as pictured above. The opening runs from 7 to 9 p.m. (701) 239-0063.
