West Fargo schools seeking demographics aidThe West Fargo School Board voted 7-0 on Monday to have administrators continue vetting demographics consultants and work toward a contract with one to get a better handle on how many children the growing district will see in coming years.
Once a contract is agreed upon, it will be brought to the board for approval, said Heather Leas, executive assistant to the superintendent and the board.
During discussions about long-range facilities planning, Superintendent David Flowers has pointed to a need for accurate demographic information so the district can make a credible case with voters for constructing new buildings.
Information from two firms, Excensus of Lakeville, Minn., and RSP & Associates of Olathe, Kan., was given to the board.
In a memo, Flowers said talks have taken place with the North Dakota State Data Center. Another agency, the Applied Population Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin, was also contacted.
Excensus estimated its charges would be $22,320.
RSP estimated its costs for a building-level enrollment analysis, travel and printing costs would be $24,500 or less.
