Project Homeless event set today at Fargodome

The FM Coalition for Homeless Persons will sponsor its seventh annual Project Homeless Event from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at the Fargodome.

The event will be held in conjunction with a planned “Veterans Stand Down” event that will connect veterans with available government, nonprofit and private resources.

The Project Homeless Event will include representatives from job-placement agencies, educational organizations and health care providers. Health screenings, dental visits and free haircuts are just a few of the services available at the event.

Information will also be provided about advance health care directives. Organizers hope to provide attendees the ability to make their health care wishes known and to also be able to provide emergency contact information.

Another new service this year is a Project Youth Connect survey. The F-M area has experienced a rise in the number of homeless teens. The coalition wants feedback from the youths about what services are needed. They eventually hope to plan Project Youth Connect events that caters to this demographic.
