EXTREME MAKEOVER: F-M college students get hands-on experience

MOORHEAD – “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” has provided more than a volunteer opportunity for area college students.

It’s allowed students from various fields to get hands-on experience.

For students at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, today was about “how to work with chaos,” said instructor Cindy Hayward.

The students in the landscape and garden center technician program waited around this morning until the project at 803 22nd Ave. S. in Moorhead was at a stage for them to do their work.

They planned to plant shrubs and do other landscaping work.

Meanwhile, culinary arts students from MSCTC served breakfast in the VIP tent.

“All of the skills that we learned in our first year we applied here today,” said student Peggy Dunham.

Students from North Dakota State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead and Concordia College also are participating in various ways.
