North Dakota wheat stocks high; corn, barley, sunflower down

Stocks of wheat in North Dakota are at the highest level since 1992 but corn, barley and sunflowers are down from last year.

The federal Agriculture Department says all wheat stored in the state as of Sept. 1 totaled 385 million bushels, up 6 percent from the same period the previous year and at the highest level in 18 years.

Corn stocks were down 37 percent to 37.8 million bushels, and barley stocks were down 20 percent to 66.1 million bushels. Sunflower stocks totaled 205 million pounds, down 28 percent.

Soybean stocks were up 33 percent to 4.1 million bushels.
