North Dakota National Guard leader retiresA top leader of the North Dakota National Guard was honored at a retirement ceremony Saturday after 36 years of military service.
Brig. Gen. Patrick Martin has been deputy adjutant general since February 2009 and assistant adjutant general for air since January 2008.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Squandron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, Air War College and Advanced Joint Professional Military Education.
Martin was born, raised and still resides in Pelican Rapids, Minn. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1974 and served until 1979 as a petty officer second class. He joined the North Dakota Air National Guard in 1981 as a staff sergeant.
