Thousands turn out for NDSU's homecoming parade

FARGO -- It was hard to tell if there was more green and yellow on the trees at North Dakota State University, or on the backs of Bison fans who lined the route of today’s homecoming parade.

Several thousand people attended the parade along North University Drive, enjoying a gorgeous fall day and a mix of marching bands, cheerleaders, clas-sic cars, mascots and enough tossed candy to keep local dentists busy for the next six months.

For Jack Seabold, wearing a No. 3 NDSU jersey, it was all about the sweets.

“Candy!” he shouted, hopping from one leg to another as the Fargo police SUV leading the parade neared. “Candy, candy candy!”

Confidence reigned among parade-goers for the Bison’s afternoon game against Western Illinois University.

Anna Hagemeyer of Clara City, Minn., was a super fan, standing among her face-painted friends with a flowing green cape.

“We’re 3-1 right now. We’re going to win today for sure,” she said. “We’re going to have an awesome season!”
