High school football: Deacons jump out to big lead en route to win

Fargo Shanley jumped out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter en route to a 49-0 victory against Valley City in North Dakota Class 2A, East Region football Friday.

“We started off real well, which was good,” Shanley head coach Steve Laqua said.

Myles Montplaisir rushed for three second-half touchdowns for the top-ranked Deacons (6-0). Stefan Webber ran for two touchdowns in the first half.

“With the wind, we found ourselves not really able to throw too much,” Laqua said. “We had to establish the ground game, which was important to us.”
