Motorcycle crash with bus kills husband, wife in FargoA husband and wife whose motorcycle crashed into a bus in south Fargo Thursday night both died, officials said Friday.
Salih Ibralic, 31, of Fargo, who was driving the motorcycle, died Thursday.
His wife and passenger, Merlina Ibralic, 26, died at Essentia Health about 2 p.m. Friday, hospital spokeswoman Kris Olson said.
The accident occurred about 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of 28th Street and 32nd Avenue South.
A First United Methodist bus driven by Kathleen Johnson, 51, of Fargo, was attempting to turn into the Carlson Library when the westbound motorcycle struck the bus, Fargo Police Sgt. Mark Lykken said.
The bus driver wasn’t hurt.
A 20-year-old woman on the bus was treated for minor injuries.
Lykken said police are reconstructing the accident using computer diagramming, and the results likely won’t be known for three to four business days.
Police on Thursday said they heard conflicting stories of whether or not the light was red when the motorcycle passed through the intersection, striking the bus.
Based on the injuries sustained, speed was likely a factor in the crash, Lykken said.
“But again, that doesn’t mean that was the cause of the accident,” he added.
Two helmets, presumably worn by the couple, were found at the scene, he said.
