Flags to fly at half-staff to honor firefighters

Flags will fly at half-staff Sunday in North Dakota and Minnesota in observance of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day.

In accordance with a presidential proclamation, North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven is directing all government agencies and offices to fly the American and North Dakota flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

At the same time, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has ordered that all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at the Capitol Complex, including state buildings, monuments, and grounds in proximity to and including the Minnesota State Capitol, from sunrise until sunset on Sunday

The observance is to honor America’s fire and emergency services personnel and to remember those who died in the line of duty.
