Cullen scores goal as Wild lose to Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Moorhead High School hockey player Matt Cullen scored his first preseason goal with the Minnesota Wild, but the Wild dropped a 3-2 decision to the Columbus Blue Jackets after a shootout Tuesday.

Nikita Filatov scored in regulation and the shootout, and David Leneveu stopped the last two Wild shooters to rally Columbus.

Cullen signed with the Wild during the offseason.

The Blue Jackets (2-3), who trailed 2-0, got even on Nick Holden’s point shot through traffic midway through the third period. Filatov scored a power-play goal from the left circle earlier in the third.

Kristian Huselius also tallied in the shootout, and Anton Stralman added two assists in regulation for Columbus. Mathieu Garon played the first 30 minutes, allowing one goal on 15 shots.
