General Mills CEO; No political donations plannedMINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The CEO of General Mills Inc. says his company has no plans to make political donations after Target Corp.'s giving angered liberals around the country.
The Star Tribune reports that Chief Executive Officer Ken Powell responded to a shareholder question about the food maker's policy on political donations at the company's annual meeting in Minneapolis on Monday.
Powell says General Mills hasn't made political donations and doesn't plan to.
Target gave $150,000 to a business-oriented political fund supporting Minnesota GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, who opposes gay marriage. The donation led to scattered protests and calls for a boycott from liberals and some gay rights supporters.
