Five drivers arrested at sobriety checkpointFargo police announced Sunday that they arrested five drivers for drunken driving at a sobriety checkpoint Saturday night on the city’s north side.
One driver also was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol, while 25 drivers were flagged for further testing, two of whom were arrested for drug violations.
The checkpoint in the 1500 block of 12th Avenue North ran from 11:22 p.m. to 2:25 a.m. During that time, 160 vehicles passed. Volunteers gave more than 100 drivers a free sandwich card from McDonald’s.
The checkpoint marked the 47th the Fargo Police Department has conducted since 2004 in a crackdown on drunken driving, resulting in 150 driving under the influence arrests.
