Franken, Dayton speak at Minnesota AFL-CIO convention

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota AFL-CIO opens a three-day convention in Bloomington Sunday by hearing from Democrats including U.S. Sen. Al Franken.

Also speaking are congressional candidate Tarryl Clark and Secretary of State Mark Ritchie.

More than 500 delgates are expected to attend the 50th constitutional convention of the state’s largest labor federation. The Minnesota AFL-CIO has more than 1,000 affiliates representing more than 300,000 unionized workers statewide.

DFL gubernatorial nominee Mark Dayton is slated to address the group on Monday. Dayton won the AFL-CIO endorsement last month after he won a contested Democratic primary.
