The Grand Forks Herald reports that 31-year-old Earland Rebel McKay pleaded guilty in June to the stabbing. He was sentenced last week in federal court.
Authorities say McKay stabbed his cousin, Matthew Ironshield, in March. The sentence McKay received last week also included punishment for a December 2009 assault on Tylin Slaughter Jr.
Authorities say McKay pleaded guilty to assaulting Slaughter and fracturing his neck.
Both incidents took place on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.
