Mark Cullen suffers Achilles injuryFlorida Panthers forward Mark Cullen of Moorhead had surgery Tuesday to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon, according to the Panthers’ Web site.
He is expected to miss at least four months.
“He’s pretty down, but he’ll definitely be back this year,” said brother, Matt, a forward with the Minnesota Wild.
Mark Cullen, 31, sustained the injury during preseason drills. He was expected to play for the Panthers’ AHL team in Rochester.
Mark has played 32 games for Chicago and Philadelphia. He has not played in the NHL since he logged three games with Philly during the 2006-07 season.
Mark Cullen suffered a cancer scare in 2003, when he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. He had 15 lymph nodes removed and has been cancer-free since.
