Contradictory GOP messagesI am mystified by the contradictory messages the GOP is putting out. They are excoriating President Barack Obama for not creating jobs. Now that the Democrats and two retiring GOP senators have cleared the way for passage of a bill that would create a $30 billion government fund to encourage lending and would eliminate capital gains taxes for long-term investors in some small businesses, the GOP is opposing this action that would create jobs.
Of course, the GOP is claiming that even though it would create jobs, it would balloon the deficit. At the same time, they claim that the tax break would create jobs while not admitting that it would also increase the deficit.
Supposedly, jobs would be created by both plans, and the debt would be increased by both plans. The only difference between the Demo-crats’ plan and the GOP plan is that the former would help the little guys while the latter would help the big guys. What’s the best choice for North Dakota?
