Altru contributes $6.5M to GF wellness centerGRAND FORKS – A $6.5 million contribution from Altru announced Wednesday gives the final push needed to build the Choice Wellness Center.
The green light won’t be official until the Grand Forks Park Board meets Oct. 5, but board Chairman Jim Bollman said, “It’s a given. It will happen.”
Altru already had been a partner on the project, signing a lease to rent space inside the fitness center to provide physical and occupational therapy. But the donation ratcheted up its involvement.
As part of the deal, Altru receives naming rights for the Y and can build a separate 7,500-square-foot facility on the wellness center’s grounds for a sports medicine clinic that will employ 10 to 15 people.
