Opponent says ND Secretary of State bungled tech spending
BISMARCK, N.D. — Secretary of State Al Jaeger's Democratic opponent says North Dakota businesses are paying the price because Jaeger has bungled a technology project.
Corey Mock says the Republican incumbent has spent more than $2 million over four years developing a system to provide electronic filing for routine documents.
Mock says the project is in limbo with no completion date, and the company Jaeger hired to develop it is having money problems. Mock says when Jaeger first ran for office in 1992, he was critical of his opponent's management, and now Jaeger is making the same mistakes.
Jaeger says the project has had development problems, but he says they couldn't have been avoided. He says the project will get finished.
