GFMEDC hires new presidentThe Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Committee got a new president Tuesday.
The GFMEDC announced Kevin McKinnon agreed to be the group’s next president, effective Oct. 25.
McKinnon currently serves as the director of business development at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development in St. Paul.
“Kevin brings a level of knowledge and expertise that is needed for the GFMEDC to lead our region to the next level of business activity,” Ron Robson, GFMEDC chair and U.S. Bank regional president, said in a statement announcing the hire.
McKinnon did not return messages left for him at his St. Paul office Tuesday.
The GFMEDC set out on a national search for a new president after former president Brian Walters resigned to become an executive vice president with the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission in Florida.
Interim-serving president Claire Vigesaa threw his name into the ring after two finalists were selected by the private consulting firm, Florida-based Jorgenson Consulting.
Vigesaa was interviewed by the selection committee but ultimately not chosen.
