Ag secretary fundraises for Pomeroy re-electionA member of President Barack Obama’s Cabinet helped fundraise for Democratic-NPL Rep. Earl Pomeroy’s re-election campaign Monday night on a farm near Cavalier, N.D.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was slated to be a guest at the Pomeroy fundraiser that was expected to draw about 200 people, Pomeroy campaign spokesman Brenden Timpe said earlier Monday.
Those in attendance were expected to be primarily farmers and people interested in agriculture issues. Most attendees paid $100 to benefit the campaign, Timpe said.
Vilsack is in North Dakota for other appearances also, including at the Big Iron Farm Show today in West Fargo.
While North Dakota Republicans have had a slew of special guests help fundraise in the state, Vilsack’s appearance Monday night marked the first big grab by the Democrats for a candidate fundraiser this election year.
