45 days ordered in 9th Best Buy sentencingFARGO - A ninth defendant in the Best Buy theft cases was sentenced to 45 days in jail on Monday in Cass County District Court.
Chernel Magaga pleaded guilty to a Class C felony of theft of property before he was sentenced.
He was one of 12 men charged in connection with a series of thefts from Best Buy in Fargo that ended up making off with $150,000 in stolen goods.
Nine defendants have pleaded guilty so far, and the remaining three have also set hearing dates to plead guilty.
Magaga was a roommate of Adetimisola Ogundipe, a security guard at Best Buy who concocted the scheme. Their apartment was called “Best Buy Jr.” by some of the other defendants, police have said.
