West Fest celebrates ‘city on the grow’West Fargo is buzzing with excitement for its annual fall event that kicks off Thursday.
The 19th annual West Fest features a variety of family-friendly activities aimed at celebrating “the city on the grow” during a three-day period.
Cruise Night on Sheyenne Street opens West Fest on Thursday evening, and Pasta in the Park at Elmwood Park will carry activities over through Friday.
But Saturday is the main event with a slew of community-oriented activities.
Activities beginning in the morning include a fall rummage sale at the Veterans Memorial Arena, the Alzheimer’s 2-Mile Memory Walk/5K Run at Rendezvous Park, horseshoe and softball tournaments at Elmwood Park and a pancake breakfast.
The grand West Fest parade begins at 1 p.m. Saturday on Sheyenne Street to 10th Avenue. Games and other family activities kick off at 2:30 p.m. at the South Elementary playground.
West Fest wraps up Saturday night with the Annual Firemen’s Ball at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, beginning at 8. The ball features a musical performance by Past Due.
