NDSU vice president candidate for Kansas job

North Dakota State University’s vice president for agriculture and university extension is a finalist for a similar position at Kansas State University.

D.C. Coston is one of three candidates for agriculture dean and director of research and extension at Kansas State in Manhattan.

Coston will visit campus Sept. 20-22 for interviews, according to a Kansas State news release.

This is Coston’s sixth year as NDSU vice president. Last spring, Coston applied to be NDSU president, but a search committee did not advance him.

Coston worked as an administrator at Oklahoma State University before coming to NDSU in 2005.

The other finalists are William “Benjy” Mikel, head of the Department of Food Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion at Mississippi State University, and Kevin Kephard, vice president for research at South Dakota State University.

Kansas State has an enrollment of more than 23,000 students.
