BNSF to begin work on bridge between F-MBNSF Railway will begin work Tuesday to replace a portion of its railroad bridge between the Main Avenue and Center/NP Avenue bridges between Fargo and Moorhead.
Crews will replace about 250 feet of the timber trestle on the Moorhead side of the Red River. The work is phase two of a four-phase project to replace the timber trestle bridge with steel pilings and pre-stressed concrete spans on both sides of the river.
Work will continue non-stop until the replacement is complete, which is estimated to be Sept. 12.
Train horns will be sounded even in quiet zones when construction workers or others are near the tracks.
The railroad has two main tracks between Main Avenue and Center/NP Avenue. During the construction, main track two will be closed. Rail traffic will continue to operate on main one.
The bike path along the river and the Third Street underpass will be closed until the work is complete.
