Fargo Fire Department awarded accreditation

The Fargo Fire Department has been granted Accredited Agency status by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program.

The department is the only North Dakota agency to receive this accreditation and is only one of 148 in all to achieve this status.

The accreditation process took about 1½ years to complete. Some of the elements required for completing the process included 240 areas of self-assessment, including documenting department goals and objectives and analyzing response times and effective response staffing.

CFAI commission members unanimously voted to approve the Fargo Fire Department’s accreditation after meeting with members last week in Chicago.
