Prosecutor: No key info withheld in Blunt case

BISMARCK – A prosecutor says no relevant information was withheld from former North Dakota workers compensation director Sandy Blunt before his felony trial.

Blunt was convicted in December 2008 of misspending about $26,000 in public money. He was given a deferred sentence and ordered to perform community service.

Blunt’s lawyer said Burleigh County prosecutor Cynthia Feland withheld a state auditor’s memo and some working papers that were crucial to the defense.

Feland said in a court filing Thursday that records show prosecutors provided the working papers and that Blunt got the memo himself from a supporter who asked the auditor’s office for records.

Feland said she didn’t violate any rules and said Blunt shouldn’t be granted a new trial.
