Moorhead man accused of punching girlfriend in face as she held 2-year-old

MOORHEAD – Police here arrested a 20-year-old Moorhead man on Sunday for allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face as she held her 2-year-old daughter.

According to a news release from Lt. Chris Carey:

An officer responding at about 8:41 p.m. to the 1000 block of 18th Street South learned that a verbal argument had escalated into a physical assault.

The victim had blacked out and fallen to the ground. Both mother and daughter were injured in the fall but didn’t require medical attention.

The suspect returned to the residence while the officer was still on scene.

Starmaine Cory Hoeper was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, felony child endangerment, domestic assault, interference with a 911 call, underage drinking and driving, minor consuming and no Minnesota driver’s license.

Police also are seeking a charge of obstructing the legal process after Hoeper allegedly resisted arrest and physically struggled with the arresting officer.
