Moorhead police chase ends in arrest
The Moorhead Police Department received a report of a strong-armed robbery around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, but officers had trouble finding the person who was reporting the incident because he was not at the locations he gave the dispatch center, a news release said.
An officer found the caller, but he would not stop. After the officer activated his emergency lights and siren, the man fled in his vehicle.
Officers pursued the vehicle for five blocks at top speeds of 40 miles an hour.
The caller stopped near the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Sixth Street South, where he fled on foot. Officers caught him about three blocks from where he stopped his vehicle.
Police arrested Jared Michael Noel, who is being held in the Clay County Jail. Officers are requesting charges of felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, DWI, and fleeing on foot from a peace officer.
No one was injured in the incident, and no vehicles were damaged.
Officers determined there was no strong-armed robbery. They are unsure why Noel tried to evade law enforcement, according to the news release.
