Fargo school program aims to deter theftsA new program called MY STUFF is being introduced in Fargo schools this fall to help students keep their stuff from becoming other people’s stuff.
The program, put together by Fargo police and the School District, is designed to help deter thefts and return items to their owners if thieves are uncovered.
The Web-based MY STUFF system lets students register any item with a serial number, be it a mobile phone, car stereo, bike or musical instrument, said Dale Stoll, the school resource officer for Fargo’s South Campus II.
The system was created earlier this year, but will be put into full use this fall, Stoll said.
Stoll said registering items will help recover them if they’re found during other investigations, whether in school or elsewhere in the community.
Students can register their items online atwww.fargo.K12.nd.us/mystuff/. They can log into the site using their student ID number and password.
