One injured in ATV rollover in Audubon

A 22-year-old woman was seriously injured in an all-terrain vehicle rollover Saturday night.

Nicole Marie Simonson of Dilworth was pinned underneath a 1998 Polaris Sportsman until a 14-year-old passenger from Moorhead was able to remove the machine off of her, according to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.

Simonson was operating the ATV on a driveway located at S. Blue Water Bay Lane in Audubon when she attempted to turn while going too fast and then rolled over, the sheriff’s office reported.

She was transported to St. Mary’s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes, then later to a Fargo hospital with serious injuries, Becker County Sheriff Tim Gordon said.

The 14-year-old had no apparent injuries. Neither Simonson nor the passenger was wearing a helmet.

The accident, which is under investigation, was reported at 8:57 p.m. Saturday.
