Diversion update expected todayOfficials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are expected to let local officials know today whether the timetable for securing federal approval of a Red River diversion will be delayed.
The update is expected to come during a meeting set for 11 a.m. in meeting room 201-202 of the Fargodome.
The meeting will be hosted by Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., and Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn.
House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman James Oberstar, D-Minn., is expected to attend the meeting and give remarks.
The corps was hoping to sign off on a project and have it ready for congressional approval by the end of this year.
The corps has warned local officials that that timetable may have to be pushed back.
