Keep an eye on Potato Days

Mashed, boiled, baked or fried, you’ll likely find it all at Potato Days.

The annual spud celebration gets cooking Friday and Saturday in Barnesville, Minn.

Friday brings the “National Lefse Cook-off” at 1 p.m. and a potato cook-off at 5 p.m. An annual attraction, the mashed potato wrestling starts at 5:30, and the Miss Tator Tot pageant begins at 6, followed by a demolition derby and a classic music dance.

A potato pancake breakfast starts off Saturday morning before a 10K and 5K run or walk. A pattern emerges on Saturday with a potato picking contest, a potato peeling contest, a potato sack fashion show, a mashed potato eating contest and a mashed potato sculpture contest, all before 3:30.

The celebration’s parade starts at 5:30, followed by a street dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
