Armed robbery suspect arrestedA 36-year-old Moorhead man was arrested Saturday, suspected of robbing a man at knifepoint in north Fargo on Friday night.
The alleged victim reported the robbery to police Friday at 11:21 p.m., Sgt. Shannon Ruziska said.
Ruziska said the 78-year-old told police he had been robbed by a man threatening him with a knife.
An initial police report didn’t indicate any injuries, and the man who said he was robbed drove to the downtown police station to give his report in person, Ruziska said.
Police dispatcher records say the alleged victim told authorities the robber hit him in the face and took his wallet before tying him up with a cord.
Ruziska said the initial report filed Saturday made no mention of the victim being bound by a cord.
Police from Moorhead and Fargo executed a warrant at a Moorhead hotel Saturday morning and arrested Robert Bucher on suspicion of committing the robbery, Ruziska said.
Ruziska said he wasn’t sure what time or at which hotel Bucher was arrested.
Clay County Jail officials said Bucher was booked into the jail at 9 a.m.
The robbery at 820 38th St. N., a building with signs for Hiawatha Transport Ltd., allegedly happened around 10 p.m., as the victim said it occurred 90 minutes before he reported it to police, dispatch logs state.
According to online court records, Bucher has a long rap sheet including convictions in Clay County for theft and burglary and in Cass County for robbery, theft and burglary.
He was sentenced in Cass County in 2002 to serve five years in state prison after he robbed a woman in the parking lot of Fargo’s Walmart, pointing a pellet gun in her face before taking her purse and driving off.
