Police seek info about dog that bit man

Moorhead police are asking the owner of a dog to come forward after the canine bit a bicyclist last week.

Police said a man was riding a bike in the 1000 block of Ninth Avenue South last week when he passed a dog on a walk with its owner. The dog reportedly bit the bicyclist on the right leg.

In a news release, police said the bitten bicyclist sought medical treatment and has been advised to go through a series of rabies shots if the dog’s vaccination records can’t be confirmed.

Police said they want to locate the dog owner in hopes that the man who was bit can avoid unnecessary medical treatment.

The animal is described as a 1- to 2-foot- tall beige dog on a blue leash. The owner is described as a white woman, in her 60s, who was wearing a pink visor-style hat at the time.

Anyone with information about the dog’s owner is asked to call (218) 299-5103.
