Boutique brings fairy tales to life

It could be said that Debbie Inocencio is in the business of fairy tales.

The Grand Forks woman recently opened two businesses at 616 Main Ave. in Fargo.

Princess Party Boutique sells princess dresses and accessories for children and is available for princess-themed parties.

Wedding Day Elegance sells and rents wedding supplies and offers reception hall setup and tear-down services, even for weddings that do not rent with the business.

Inocencio has operated a Wedding Day Elegance shop in Grand Forks for three years and has received interest from the Fargo area, she said.

Things like guest books, cake toppers and Champagne flutes are available for sale. Items available for rent include decorations like chair covers, punch fountains, candelabras and lighted arches.

Lori Krump of Fargo is renting chair covers and having the business help decorate for her wedding.

“She’s really taking a big worry off of me, worrying about who is going to decorate,” she said. “The chair covers are going to look beautiful. I think Fargo needed something like this, something affordable.”

Inocencio stocks all her items so she can often accommodate last-minute requests and changes, she said.

Princess Party Boutique has a dress-up room filled with frilly dresses, shiny shoes, fluffy boas, and sparkly tiaras where girls can dress up. They can also have their hair, makeup and nails done, and fairy-tale princesses can be hired to make appearances at the parties. Adult-sized dresses are available for an adult and child to rent use of the dress-up room for an hour.

Allandra Wells stepped out from behind the dressing room curtain to a chorus of oohs and aahs Tuesday. The 6-year-old birthday girl was decked out in a yellow dress adorned in red roses, a pink tiara sat atop her sparkly, curled hair, and her cheeks, lips and nails were all pink. She seemed slightly embarrassed by the attention, but a bright smile lit her face.

When she found out she was going to have a princess birthday party, the little girl, whose bedroom is full of princesses, was ecstatic, said her mother, Kayla Thompson of Fargo.

“She was jumping up and down with joy,” she said.

Inocencio’s business was inspired by a Disney World beauty salon that offers princess makeovers.

“I have a daughter who’s 5, and she loves things like that,” Inocencio said.

Prices start at $150 for a two-hour party of up to five children. Finger foods and a party favor for each guest are included.

The businesses opened July 15.

Inocencio is also opening a Princess Party Boutique in Grand Forks.
