Man accused of robbery over case of beerFARGO – He wanted a case of beer. Now, he has a case in court.
Police say Michael Souza-Ariota, 33, of Mahnomen, Minn., tried to buy alcohol at Empire Liquors on Broadway in downtown Fargo around closing time early today, but it was too late.
He went outside and saw a man with a case of beer and asked to buy it from him. When the man refused, Souza-Ariota allegedly punched him in the face and tried to take his beer, Sgt. Glen Hanson said.
Two officers were nearby and arrested Souza-Ariota on suspicion of strong-arm robbery.
Hanson said the victim had a bloody nose but wasn't seriously injured, and he did not lose his case of beer.
