Accused trooper fired from North Dakota Highway Patrol

A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper accused of assaulting his wife as she held their infant son has been fired.

Patrol Lt. Eldon Mehrer says Michael Polomny will appeal his dismissal to an internal review board.

Polomny was arrested in June at the couple’s home in Moorhead. He’s accused of pushing, kicking and punching his wife while she held their

3-month-old son. Online court records don’t show charges in the case.

Polomny is a seven-year veteran of the patrol and had been based in Fargo.
