Five arrested for DUI during Fargo sobriety checkpointFARGO – Fargo police made five arrests for DUI overnight Friday during a sobriety checkpoint conducted in the 1400 block of University Drive South.
One citation for driving under suspension was issued to a driver flagged for further screening, but not arrested for DUI. Another driver flagged for further screening, but not arrested for DUI, was cited for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Two passengers in his car were also cited for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. One of the passengers was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.
The checkpoint began at 11:37 p.m. Friday and concluded at 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said 455 vehicles drove through the checkpoint, with 30 being were flagged for further testing. All vehicles traveling south in the 1400 block of University Drive south were screened.
This is the 45th checkpoint the Fargo Police Department has conducted since October 2004, resulting in 143 DUI arrests.
