Pawlenty orders flags flown at half-staff today

ST. PAUL – Gov. Tim Pawlenty has ordered all U.S. and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff today in remembrance of Maj. Michael Freyholtz, who was one of four airmen killed when their military cargo plane crashed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska.

Freyholtz was born in Bemidji, Minn. He graduated from Blackduck (Minn.) High School in 1994 and the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1998.

At the time of death he was a pilot assigned to the Alaska Air National Guard’s 249th Airlift Squadron.
