Bureau of Indian Affairs police officer charged in assaultA Bureau of Indian Affairs police officer was charge with stabbing his wife and is in jail in Devils Lake, N.D., officials said Thursday.
Duane Ronald Gunville, 41, was arrested Saturday after his wife reported the attack, which occurred in their home in Devils Lake.
Lorraine Gunville, 31, was treated and released at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, Detective Sue Schwab of the Devils Lake Police Department said. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
Duane Gunville had left the scene and was arrested in Belcourt, Schwab said. A BIA police dispatcher in Fort Totten confirmed that Gunville is a police officer, but efforts to reach his superior officers Thursday were unsuccessful.
Gunville was in the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center Jail in Devils Lake on a $50,000 cash bond, Schwab said.
