$1.3M DOT grant to aid I-29 infrastructure
A $1.3 million federal grant will go toward repairing Interstate 29 near Fargo, North Dakota’s congressional delegation announced Tuesday.
The Department of Transportation funding will be used to replace a 5.3-mile section of I-29 from Fargo north to the Sheyenne River – a portion of the interstate that’s beginning to show signs of wear and tear due to increased freight traffic to and from Canada.
“As the economy in North Dakota continues to boom, an even greater toll is being taken on our roadways, especially major highways like I-29,” Sens. Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Congressman Earl Pomeroy said in a joint statement.
